Reading Challenges

The Library offers a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, encouraging all Wixom families and caregivers to read 1000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary. There will be prizes for kids when they read 100, 500, 800 and 1000 books. They can also receive a special sticker for every 100 books read. Just register your child on our Beanstack site or through the Beanstack Tracker app. The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program will appear as a program as soon as you sign in! 

To encourage kids to continue reading while in school and boost their literacy and reading level so that no students are held back. This program is similiar to 1000 Books Before Kindergarten but for older kids (in grades K-3). It is also an answer to the new Read by Grade Three Law. Prize 1 (50 hours): Pick from the Prize Box Prize 2 (100 hours): Pick from the Prize Box Prize 3 (150 hours): Pick from the Prize Box Prize 4 (200 hours): Canvas Tote Bag.
