English As A Second Language
Are you looking to improve your English speaking skills? Check out a variety of ESL resources available at the Library.
Join us on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. to relax and talk with people from different countries who are trying to improve their English. There are no tests and it is free. There is an instructor to help the group. If Walled Lake Schools are cancelled for weather, ESL Cafe will also be cancelled. UPDATE: ESL Cafe is not meeting at this time.
ESL Book Club
Join us on Friday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. to talk about the latest ESL Book Club title. Copies of books are at the Information Desk. There is an instructor to help the group. |Read Along Books
You can check out a CD kit: this is a book and CD that tells you a story. There are 7 different levels in these CD kits so that you can start at a Beginner Level and work up to an advanced Level 6. These are very good for improving your vocabulary and comprehension skills.
|Listen to CDs
Learn English by using CDs that use both English and your own language (example of a title: English for Spanish Speakers). Each CD contains several lessons.
The Library has books on English grammar, dictionaries and work books. Many of these are located in the ESL Collection and they will help you to learn English.
Mango Languages is a fun and free way to learn any of 70+ languages with self-directed lessons and an interactive app. You can on a computer, or on your Android or iOS device by downloading the Mango app and setting up an account with your Wixom library card.
