We hope you will visit the Children's Department often, and join us for many upcoming programs. Our goal is for your child to learn and have lots of fun at every library event. We are here to meet everyone's needs for recreational reading and information. If we do not have something you want, we will buy or borrow it for you... just ask!

Early Literacy

Discover our favorite books, matched to your child's interests as well as other tools to help build literacy. We'll send you a weekly book recommendation for each child, tailored to their reading level and interests. The recommendations also include interactive activities and learning tips related to the recommended title. App recommendations, themed reading lists, and more are also available. Create an account with your Wixom library card at wixomlibrary.beanstack.org today! You can create profiles for each child under one main account.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The Library offers a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, encouraging all Wixom families and caregivers to read 1000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary. There will be prizes for kids when they read 100, 500, 800 and 1000 books. They can also receive a special sticker for every 100 books read. Just register your child on our Beanstack site and the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program will appear as a program as soon as you sign in! You can register and track your child's reading here.

We offer a variety of tween programs for kids in grades 3-6. Programs include craft nights, Lego Club, and the Novel Thoughts Lunch Bunch. For specific program information and to register, please visit the Event Calendar.
